About this postcard
A flock of pink flamingos stands and nests on low mounds beside a pond, with palms and dense tropical foliage behind them. The printed caption describes their long legs straddling "huge pyramids of mud" and the birds going about reproducing, "oblivious to the race crowds, screaming encouragement to the horses." Hialeah Park, a Miami-area race course opened in the 1920s, was known for its landscaped grounds and resident flamingo colony. The caption claims that the first and only baby flamingos hatched in captivity were born there.
