About this postcard

The view shows the long, colonnaded main building of the New Greensboro Female College, with a central cupola, pedimented portico and matching end pavilions, captioned "New Greensboro Female College" and overprinted in color "State Normal Building." Greensboro Female College was chartered in 1838 and continues today as Greensboro College; the "State Normal" overprint points to the State Normal and Industrial College established in Greensboro in 1891, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Albertype Company of Brooklyn issued the card as a collotype-style printed photograph.
