About this postcard

The photograph shows Hannibal's New High School, a large brick building with a mansard roof, round dormer windows, and an arched entrance. The school was built at a reported cost of $80,000, a substantial public investment for the Mississippi River town. Hannibal is best known as the boyhood home of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), whose years there shaped the settings of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
