About this postcard

A tall white stone monument topped by a bronze Continental soldier stands among trees against a sunset sky. The dark pedestal tablet identifies the New Jersey Brigade of the Continental Army and lists Brig. Gen. William Maxwell and the colonels of its four regiments. The state of New Jersey erected the monument on the ground occupied by the brigade's infantry line during the Valley Forge winter encampment of 1777-78.
