About this postcard
A New Year's greeting centers on a large gilded bell with a red interior, surrounded by sprays of pink and white roses and a small bell-and-blossom ornament at the upper left. A tiny inset view of a boat on the water sits at the center. The printed verse wishes the recipient 'Hundred and Sixty Five Days of Good Luck' and a fortune that is 'Kind Fruitful and True.' On the back, the sender signs himself 'Hubby' and writes that he got there 'all O.K.'; Charlie is coming to meet him, but he has phoned with no news yet. Bells and roses were common New Year's emblems of luck and good wishes in the early twentieth century.
