New Year greeting with holly, bell and verse, Oneonta, NY, 1915

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A New Year greeting built around a printed verse: “The New Year rings out bright and clear / Its song of life and love and cheer / May these notes in your heart ring true / Is my best wish / For yours and You.” Holly, red ribbons, a small bell, and poinsettia blossoms frame the lines. Mae and Sam sent it to family at the end of 1915 with a short Christmas and New Year message. Holiday cards of the period often used the same winter greenery and bells for New Year’s as for Christmas, treating the turn of the year as part of the same festive season.
