The card pairs the printed verse “The Whole Year Through” with a narrow night scene of a snow-covered house, lit windows, and a dark evergreen beneath a starry green sky, bordered by holly. The midnight bells in the verse mark it as a New Year's greeting. Holly-framed greeting postcards of this kind were common in the early twentieth century.
Linen texture; holly border at top and bottom; light staining on left panel; small loss at top right corner.
Postmark: WALTON DEC 24 12:M N.Y. (no year in cancel). Divided-back linen-era card with 1-cent green Washington stamp; CPC "The Mark of Distinction" publisher monogram; light corner/edge wear, faint foxing on back.
