About this postcard

A corner view shows the Newton-Waltham Bank and Trust Company at 637 Main Street in Waltham, a mid-century modern bank building with a large sign and a clock at the corner. Cars are parked along the street. The bank served Newton, Waltham, Wayland, and Weston and advertised nineteen offices, a sign of the postwar growth of commercial banking in Boston's western suburbs. Its FDIC membership was a standard reassurance for depositors in the decades after federal deposit insurance began.
