About this postcard
A row of two-story red-brick officers' quarters with dark hipped roofs, white trim and chimneys, set along a curving road and clipped lawns at Carlisle Barracks, as the card's caption names them. Carlisle Barracks, established in 1757, is one of the oldest continuously active Army posts in the United States; it was the site of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School from 1879 to 1918 and has housed the U.S. Army War College since 1951. The photograph is credited to the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
