The inset photograph shows a group of women in white dresses and a man in a suit standing beside a stone building. A large red and black pennant reading "Stanley" in gothic script accompanies the view. The printed caption reads "The unexpected always happens at Stanley" and adds "Look out when you are here." The sender writes of a fine time in Stanley and plans to go on to Waterloo before starting home. Pennant souvenirs were common in the early 20th century, often sold as local keepsakes.
