About this postcard
A night view looking along the Oak Cliff Viaduct toward the lit skyline of downtown Dallas, with automobiles streaming along the roadway beneath rows of street lamps and a full moon above. The viaduct, a long concrete bridge over the Trinity River bottoms, opened in 1912 and carried traffic between Oak Cliff and the city until it was replaced by the Houston Street Viaduct's successors in the mid-20th century. The tall buildings in the distance reflect Dallas's growth as a regional commercial center in the 1930s and 1940s.
