A wave curls and breaks into white foam over a rocky, seaweed-streaked shore, with a dark band of open ocean behind it and a pink-tinged sky above. The camera sits low and close, catching the surf at the moment it collapses into wash.
Cape Cod's ocean-facing side takes the full swell of the North Atlantic, so surf there builds over a long fetch and comes ashore with force. The view is a study of that energy rather than of any landmark, with the beach itself reduced to wet rock and weed at the frame's edge.
White border; visible linen crosshatch texture; slight edge wear and small tear at left edge.
