The Old Blandford Church stands in its grassy churchyard at Petersburg, Virginia, a brick colonial building with a steep roof, arched stained-glass windows, and a white-trimmed cornice. Old headstones fill the foreground. The church dates to 1735, and a poem said to have been found on its walls around 1841 describes the building as crumbling, with its worshippers scattered and ivy clinging to the masonry.
