Two weathered coquina-stone pillars flank a low rubble wall, the surviving Old City Gates of St. Augustine, Florida, with trees and a bright sky behind. The pillars, topped with finials, mark the northern entrance to the old walled town and are traditionally dated to around 1808, when they were rebuilt as part of the city's Spanish-era defenses. They remain one of St. Augustine's best-known landmarks and a symbol of the city's colonial past.
