About this postcard

Old Faithful Geyser sends a tall column of white water and steam into a dark sky above its brightly colored mineral crust. The card notes the geyser's average interval of 66.3 minutes and eruptions that reach 116 to 171 feet for about four minutes, and it credits the 1870 naming to General Henry D. Washburn. Old Faithful lies in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the first national park. Haynes, the park's long-time official photographer and publisher, produced many views of Yellowstone for visitors.
