About this postcard
The card shows Old Faithful Geyser in full eruption, a tall column of white steam and water rising against a dark sky above the geyser's brightly colored mineral crust. Old Faithful, in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, was named in 1870 for the regularity of its eruptions and became the park's best-known attraction; Haynes, the long-time official photographer and publisher at Yellowstone, issued many views of it. The deep blue-black sky and saturated foreground colors are typical of hand-tinted linen-era cards.
