About this postcard

The picture shows a stone village church with a square embattled tower and a tall flagstaff, seen across a churchyard of headstones enclosed by a low brick and stone wall, with a timber lychgate at the left and a long brick building with chimneys at the right. The card's own caption names it "Old Linslade Church" — the church of St Mary at Old Linslade, a hamlet on the River Ouzel near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, England. The medieval fabric of the church, including its stone tower, survives amid later restoration, and the surrounding churchyard and adjacent buildings give the setting its characteristic village-edge appearance.
