About this postcard

A color-tinted view of the building the caption names as the Old Mission Chapel in Los Angeles, California, seen across landscaped grounds with tall palms, curving walks, lawns, flower beds, and a few small figures. The card was issued by the Detroit Photographic Co. in 1899, part of that firm's extensive series of American scenic views. The white-walled church with its arched entrance and domed tower is generally associated with the old Plaza Church (La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles), the historic Catholic church on the Los Angeles plaza.
