About this postcard
The bronze equestrian statue of Paul Revere stands on a tall granite pedestal in Boston's North End, with the white steeple of Old North Church rising behind leafy trees under a blue sky. The church, formally Christ Church, was built in 1723 and is the city's oldest surviving church building. Its tower is the one where signal lanterns were hung on the night of April 18, 1775, warning that British troops were moving by sea before Paul Revere's ride. The statue, sculpted by Cyrus Dallin, was dedicated in 1940 and placed in the Paul Revere Mall near the church on Salem Street. The church remains active, with Sunday services at 10:45.
