A shaded dirt roadway winds between mossy boulders and tall pines on Wolf Hill, printed as the card's 'Old Roadway, Wolf Hill, Gettysburg, Pa.' Wolf Hill lies just south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and saw fighting on July 2-3, 1863, during the Battle of Gettysburg; in the early 20th century the wooded slopes were a quiet scenic drive for battlefield visitors. The tinted view emphasizes the forest and rock outcrops rather than monuments.
Narrow light margin at edges; light wear to corners; tinted lithographic halftone texture.
No postmark; unused divided-back card. Red-ink imprint, Rotograph Co. of New York, printed in Germany, card no. E 3713a. Light soiling and toning on the back; front is a colored halftone with no white border.
