About this postcard

Color lithograph view of the Old South Church, a brick meeting house with arched windows and a tall, slender white steeple, hemmed in by tall commercial blocks on Washington Street in downtown Boston. Built in 1729, the Old South Meeting House was the largest building in colonial Boston and the site where Samuel Adams addressed a mass meeting on the evening of December 16, 1773, setting the Boston Tea Party in motion. Narrowly saved from demolition in 1876, it survives today as a museum and historic site.
