A paved highway curves through dense hardwood forest toward a rounded, tree-covered mountain under a clear blue sky, with a rocky bank at the right edge of the road. The card's own caption places the view on the Skyline Drive in Virginia, the scenic road built in the 1930s along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains through Shenandoah National Park. The photograph was supplied by the Norfolk & Western Railway, whose lines served the region and promoted motor tours of the new park.
Linen-textured stock with a white border; photo credit to the Norfolk & Western Railway printed at bottom. Light edge and corner wear.
No postmark or handwriting; unused card. Divided-back linen-era card ("THIS SIDE FOR MESSAGE" / "ADDRESS ONLY ON THIS SIDE"), blue imprint, "MADE IN USA" along the divider, Asheville Post Card Co. logo. Light foxing/toning on cream stock.
