Three ripe oranges rest among glossy green leaves and clusters of white orange blossoms against a dark, nearly black background. The studio still life sets the fruit and flowers in a tight, decorative arrangement. Fruit-and-blossom subjects were common in early 20th-century postcards, drawing on the citrus harvests of California and Florida. The sender, Marian, wrote to her father from Reading, Pennsylvania, about daily outings with her grandmother and a picnic the day before.
