About this postcard
The card presents two views of the Orkney Springs Hotels at Orkney Springs, Virginia, captioned "High and Cool in the Allegheny Mountains." The upper view looks along a shaded walk between white frame hotel buildings with red roofs, an American flag, and a small pavilion; the lower view shows a long row of porches and lawns beneath large trees. Orkney Springs, in Shenandoah County, was a mineral-springs resort at about 2,300 feet, and the back text traces ownership through Lord Culpeper, Lord Fairfax, Light Horse Harry Lee, and Robert E. Lee.
