A bulky stick nest sits in the crotch of a bare tree, with two or three ospreys perched on and beside it. Bare branches frame the nest at left and right against a clear blue sky. Ospreys, also called fish hawks, nest in secluded spots along canals and on islands in the Everglades, and the card's caption notes that they are found in good numbers in Everglades National Park. The message home to Michigan mentions a recent trip to the Everglades and hopes that the snow will be gone by April.

Dear Loved Ones,
We are well and
have just gotten home
from the Everglades.
I was tired & didn't
mail any there. Lorne
and Gordon went
with me.
We plan to start
sometime around
the 1st of April. I
sure hope the snow
is gone there by then.
