The Reading Pagoda crowns Mount Penn, its tiered red roofs and white trim rising above a rocky, tree-covered slope. Stone retaining walls and stairways lead up the hillside, with a blue sky and light clouds behind the structure. Built in the early 1900s as a hillside resort and lookout, the Japanese-style pagoda became a local landmark and a place to take in views over Reading. The site sits 600 feet above the city and 1,200 feet above sea level.
