About this postcard

An elevated view of the Palm Beach Biltmore Hotel, a white, multi-story block topped by twin tower cupolas, rising above palms and dense tropical planting. Water with a small boat lies to the left, and low buildings and a roadway fill the foreground and right. The Biltmore was one of the grand winter resort hotels built in Palm Beach during the Florida land boom of the mid-1920s, when wealthy northern visitors filled the island's lakefront and oceanfront hotels each season. It closed in 1969 and was demolished in 1973, so photographs like this one carry much of the record of how it looked.
