Panorama of Jackson, Wyoming, and the Teton Peaks, circa 1940

About this postcard

A high, wide view looks down on Jackson, Wyoming, spread across the flat floor of Jackson Hole. Scattered houses, barns, sheds, and a few larger commercial blocks line dirt roads and open fields, while partly wooded hills rise on both sides and the Teton Peaks stand in the hazy distance. Jackson was a small ranching and trading town in the valley, and by the mid-twentieth century it was becoming a gateway for travelers headed to the Tetons and Yellowstone. The printed caption calls the valley "the famous Jackson Hole" and points out the Teton Peaks looming over the nearby hills.
