About this postcard
An elevated view over the red-tiled and blue-slate roofs of Châlons-sur-Marne, with the Gothic cathedral rising beyond the town and a broad open square in the foreground. Shop signs reading "CHARBONS" and "COIFFEUR" are visible on the buildings below. The printed caption calls the scene a panorama toward the cathedral taken from Notre-Dame. Châlons-sur-Marne, now Châlons-en-Champagne, lies in the Champagne region, and its Cathedral of Saint-Étienne has long dominated the old town. A soldier sent this view home to his mother in Iowa; it was received in June 1945.
