A shaded woodland walk follows a small stream and a low rocky cascade through Panther Hollow, with a large tree trunk leaning across the ravine and dense foliage overhead. Panther Hollow is a wooded valley within Pittsburgh's Schenley Park, a large municipal park laid out in the late nineteenth century on land given by Mary Schenley; its shaded walks and bridges made it a popular subject for Pittsburgh souvenir views in the early 1900s.
