Paradise Bay and Black Mountain, Lake George, NY, circa 1915

About this postcard

A white launch with red trim crosses calm water in Paradise Bay, five people aboard, one of them holding an American flag at the stern. A rocky, tree-covered point with autumn foliage frames the left foreground, and forested slopes rise across the lake behind. Black Mountain stands on the east shore of Lake George, and the bay at its foot was a regular stop for summer visitors who came north by rail and then out onto the water by steamer or hired launch. J. S. Wooley, a Ballston Spa photographer and publisher, issued many views of the Adirondacks and the Saratoga region in the early twentieth century.
