About this postcard

A wide waterfall spills over a stepped rock ledge into a dark pool, hemmed in by dense forest. A wooden footbridge crosses the stream above the falls at the upper right, giving walkers a vantage point over the cascade. The printed caption names the spot as Paradise Falls in the Pocono Mountains. Paradise Falls lies in Paradise Township in the Poconos, a region of wooded ridges and small glacial lakes that had drawn summer visitors from New York and Philadelphia since the railroad era. The sender's remark about the number of lakes and streams up where he was staying fits the plateau country around Tobyhanna, where ponds and brooks are scattered through the woods.

Dear Iona: We passed by this place about as far from it as this was taken. As high as we are there are lots of lakes and streams up here. Edgar
