A curving drive runs through a park beneath a row of tall palms, with flower beds and shrubs at the right and water visible behind the trees under a bright sky. The scene is identified as the park at La Jolla, the seaside community north of San Diego. La Jolla had become a resort destination by the early twentieth century, and its landscaped public spaces and palm-lined drives reflected the coastal setting that drew visitors.
