About this postcard

A large Queen Anne-style frame house with half-timbered gables, a massive central chimney, and a broad lawn crossed by curving walks — the parsonage of Roger's Memorial Church in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The church it served was built as a memorial to Henry Huttleston Rogers, the Standard Oil executive and Fairhaven native whose philanthropy also gave the town its library, high school, and town hall in the 1880s–1890s. The house's Tudor-influenced detailing reflects the same period's taste for colonial-revival and Old English motifs.
