About this postcard
Two men stand on a floor of ice inside a large cave, one in a rust-orange outfit and cap raising an arm toward a jagged rock or ice ledge, the other in a tan shirt and brown trousers facing him. The dark blue-black background and rough outcrop at left frame the party as they try to reach the top of the ledge. The caption identifies the site as the Ice Caves near El Morro, N.M., the largest ice caves known in America, formed where air moves through underground tunnels of an extinct volcano and keeps the temperature at about 30 degrees year-round.
