A red frame pavilion with an open, columned veranda and a square tower under a red roof stands among tall shade trees on a grassy lawn. A smaller red-roofed structure and a tall cross-like pole appear to the right. The printed caption names the scene as Rivermont Park in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Rivermont was developing as a streetcar suburb on high ground above the James River, and the park gave residents a shaded place for outings and promenades in the early 20th century.
