About this postcard
A quiet stretch of the Swannanoa River runs between densely wooded banks, with a rocky shoal and fallen branches in the water and a large rock in the foreground. The caption places the scene in the "Land of the Sky," the nickname that promoted Asheville and western North Carolina as a mountain resort region in the early 1900s. The message catches a summer stay on a branch of the Swannanoa. Mrs. Barnes calls it "a beautiful spot" and urges Mabel Bishop to see it on her way north. She mentions a morning call from Paul Ferguson, daily visits with the Fergusons, and reports that her health is improving every day.
