About this postcard
The view looks across autumn foliage toward the twin summits of Peaked and Middle Mountains, printed on the card as "Pickede and Middle Mountains," apparently a typesetter's rendering of Peaked. North Conway sits in the Mount Washington Valley, below the Presidential Range. By the early 20th century the railroad and a cluster of hotels had made North Conway a summer base for White Mountains tourism, and the surrounding peaks drew hikers, landscape painters, and hotel guests. Scenery cards of this kind were common souvenirs of such trips.
