About this postcard

A tinted view of the Peaks of Otter, with dark forested slopes filling the foreground and middle ground and blue ridges rising behind them under a yellow and blue sky. The peaks, Sharp Top and Flat Top among them, stand on the Blue Ridge in Bedford County and were a favorite subject for Virginia view cards long before the Blue Ridge Parkway crossed them. Lee wrote from Lynchburg on August 30, 1909, describing a pleasant visit and very warm weather, and noting that Joe would leave that week for Laura's farm. The card went to Mrs. H. A. Perkinson on South Main Street in Danville, about a hundred miles south, where it was marked received the same afternoon.
