About this postcard

Elevated view from the Golden Bay Hotel over Westward Ho! in Devon, with the long shingle bank of Pebble Ridge running along the coast at high tide. The view takes in a cluster of buildings, a tennis court in the foreground, and the golf links; sailboats sit on the water. Westward Ho! grew as a Victorian seaside resort after Charles Kingsley's novel, and the Royal North Devon golf links on Northam Burrows are among England's oldest.
