About this postcard
The card shows the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg from the front, a long Beaux-Arts building with a tall central dome flanked by lower wings and two American flags flying from poles at either end, with a broad flight of steps and lawns in the foreground. The caption calls attention to the "new steps" leading up to the main entrance. Designed by architect Joseph M. Huston and dedicated in 1906, the Capitol is known for its Renaissance Revival style and its dome, which was modeled on the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
