About this postcard

Petrified logs lie scattered across the sandy floor of the Petrified Forest near Adamana, Arizona, with low badland mesas on the horizon. The fossil wood is Triassic in age, and the site became a national monument in 1906 and a national park in 1962. In 1899 Adamana served as the railroad stop for visitors reaching the deposits. The color comes from the Photochrom process used by the Detroit Photographic Company.
