About this postcard

The view shows a crowded Petticoat Lane, Kansas City's popular name for a stretch of 11th Street given over to clothing, millinery, and dry-goods shops. Pedestrians fill the street; a green trolley car runs at the right, and an automobile and a wagon are at the left. Multi-story brick commercial blocks line both sides, with a large rooftop sign reading "PECKS" and a "HOTEL" sign on the building at left. The mix of foot traffic, street railway, and early motor vehicles shows a downtown shopping district in transition in the first decade of the 1900s.
