The view looks across Phillips Lake from the shore at Lucerne, a summer village in Dedham, Maine, toward a low, rounded mountain beyond the far bank. Forest runs down to the water on both sides, and trees frame the foreground. In the early 1900s, Lucerne and Phillips Lake drew seasonal visitors for boating, fishing, and summer stays in the Maine woods.
Real photo postcard; white caption lettered in the negative at bottom: 'PHILLIPS LAKE AT LUCERNE IN MAINE, T.'; sepia tone; no border.
Postmark: none visible. Divided 'POST CARD' back with a single vertical divider line and a 'DEFENDER' diamond stamp box (Defender brand, c. 1910s-20s). No postmark, stamp, address, or message; only faint pencil dealer notations at top ('RMLJ 5-' and '3'). Front is a sepia real-photo view of Phillips Lake at Lucerne, Maine.
