About this postcard

A yellow outline map of Iowa, the state name in large red letters, labels cities and the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Small line drawings of farm and livestock scenes fill the interior. A printed key lists eleven numbered views, from the Tower of Legends in Sioux City and the Chief Keokuk Monument at Keokuk to the Iowa State Capitol, the Mississippi River locks, and tulip time in Pella. The key mixes state institutions with tourist draws, including county courthouses, the capitol, a river lock, and one of the Burlington Route's streamlined Zephyrs, the trains that came to symbolize modern travel in the 1930s and 1940s. The map is a mid-century souvenir of the kind sold to motorists and mailed home.
