A spray of pink roses, one large open bloom with several buds and green leaves, fills the card beneath a birthday wish printed in blue script: "With best Wishes and many Happy Returns of the Day." The number 95 at the lower left is a publisher's design number.
The sender, Anna, signs herself "your sister" and asks "How goes life on West Hill?", a family birthday greeting mailed to Mr. F. C. Bingham on Rural Delivery route 3 outside Waverly, a railroad and mill village in Tioga County, New York.
Handwritten date "May 20.09" runs down the left edge of the front; heavy brown foxing/staining across the cream background; fine textured (dotted) printing screen; no white border. Postmark STELLA / MAY / 190- / N. on a green U.S. 1-cent stamp; divided-back embossed floral card; light toning and edge wear.
