About this postcard
Night view of the Pittsburg Bank for Savings, its windows lit against a dark, cloud-streaked sky and a full moon. Lower commercial blocks flank the bank, including a building at left lettered "DURAND'S" with arched storefronts, and a few small figures stand on the sidewalk at the corner. The sender's note, "our office Bldg.," suggests a workplace connection to the building. In 1909 Pittsburgh was a major industrial and banking center, and downtown buildings often housed banks alongside commercial offices. The city was officially spelled Pittsburg that year; Pittsburgh restored the h in 1911.
