About this postcard

The picture looks across a broad landscaped plaza on Independence Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri: sweeping lawns, curving white walks, rows of young shade trees, and a long low brick building with red tile roofs set behind the green. Independence Avenue was one of Kansas City's principal east-west arteries, running through the city's northeast neighborhoods, and its wide, park-like medians were typical of the boulevard treatment given to major streets in the city's early park and boulevard era. The card's own caption names the spot simply as the plaza on Independence Avenue.
