About this postcard

Uniformed Syracuse police officers march in review formation across the broad pavement of Clinton Square while crowds line the curbs and sidewalks. Streetcars and wagons wait in the background. The large red-brick block on the right carries a "WIETING" sign, marking the Wieting Block and its opera house, and a clock-towered masonry building rises on the left. Clinton Square was Syracuse's central civic and commercial gathering place, and public inspections and parades were common civic ceremonies in the early 20th century.
