The Warsaw Nike, a bronze woman with a raised sword and extended left arm, stands on a tall stone pedestal inscribed "BOHATEROM WARSZAWY 1939-1945." A crowd gathers around the base in a city square, with buildings and trees behind. The monument by Marian Konieczny was unveiled in 1964 at Plac Teatralny, a central Warsaw square. It honors the city's World War II resistance, including the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
